The “perfect balance” is what we try to achieve.
The balance of pedigree breeding, high quality food source,
excellent healthcare and low stress is used to produce our
beef.
At Oakford Farm, pedigree breeding is at the heart of everything we do. By drawing on full bloodlines from some of the largest and most respected Red Ruby herds in the country, we continually strive to improve the quality of our cattle. This depth of breeding ensures that every animal carries the traits that make Red Ruby beef so distinctive — natural marbling, resilience, and exceptional eating quality.
Equally important is the way our herd is fed and raised. With the exception of breeding bulls, the Oakford Red Ruby herd is 100% grass‑fed, grazing on permanent pastures rich in grasses and wildflowers. This slower, more natural approach allows the cattle to mature at their own pace, leading to longer, healthier lives and beef that is naturally higher in omega‑3. It’s a system that prioritises both animal welfare and nutritional value.

Healthcare and careful management are also critical to our success. As proud members of the Biobest Hi‑Health Herdcare scheme, we work closely with Farm Vets Southwest and cattle technicians at Genus ABS to monitor herd health. Medicines are only used when absolutely necessary, ensuring our cattle are never pumped full of unnecessary drugs. This commitment to responsible veterinary care safeguards both the wellbeing of the animals and the integrity of the beef we produce.
Finally, we believe that low‑stress rearing is essential. Calves remain with their mothers for an average of nine months, a practice that reduces stress and supports natural development. By combining pedigree breeding, grass‑fed nutrition, careful healthcare, and compassionate management, Oakford Farm continues to produce Red Ruby beef of the highest quality — beef that reflects our values of sustainability, responsibility, and excellence.
“Pedigree breeding, careful healthcare, and low‑stress rearing — the foundation of Oakford quality.”

Oakford Farm has been part of the Earle family since 1962, and from the very beginning our focus has been on farming in balance with nature.
